Vance’s Weekly Update

We’re thrilled to share that this week has been... pretty uneventful—and in the NICU, boring is amazing news! Vance continues his course of antibiotics for pneumonia, and by the end of this week, he’ll be finishing up his treatment. If all goes well, he’ll have his PICC line removed, and we’re crossing all our fingers and toes that he’ll never need one again!

Our little fighter keeps blowing us away with his growth—he’s now weighing in at 3 pounds 14 ounces! Can you believe it?! Even though he’s looking a bit puffy this weekend, the team gave him some Lasix to help flush out the extra fluid. He usually loses a few ounces after getting it, but this time he managed to keep gaining (we’re convinced he’s trying to hit that 4-pound milestone as fast as he can!).

The doctors are still playing around with his ventilator settings to find the perfect balance, but he’s been doing so well that he even got a few lab holidays this week—days with no blood draws at all! Considering he was once getting labs multiple times a day, this is huge progress.

Mom got to give him a bath on Saturday, and it’s safe to say Vance absolutely loved it. His oxygen levels stayed high the entire time, even while mom made sure to clean all those adorable neck rolls (and trust us, there are a lot of them now!).

This week, Vance will have his first echo to check on his heart and his first eye exam. We’re anxious but hopeful for good news. And with him turning two months old this week, we’re eager to see if he hits the 4-pound club by then!

Every day, this little man continues to amaze us. The joy and love he’s brought into our lives are beyond anything we could have ever imagined. We’re endlessly grateful for your continued love, prayers, and support. Please keep them coming as Vance keeps fighting, growing, and healing.

Thank you for being on this journey with us. ❤️
